Municipal Election 2025: Candidate Responses to FFC Questionnaire
Fair Future Canmore (FFC) is committed to providing our members and townspeople clear information on which to cast their vote on October 20th. In preparation for Canmore’s upcoming municipal election, we reached out to all candidates with a set of questions shaped by feedback from our member survey. These questions focus on key issues including the vacancy tax, housing, governance, and fiscal priorities.
Our goal is simple: to provide voters with clear, unaltered responses from candidates so that each resident can make their own informed decision about who best represents their values and vision for Canmore.
What We Asked
Each candidate was invited to respond to the following six questions:
- Vacancy Tax: Will you vote to repeal or remove the vacancy tax if elected? Why or why not?
- Housing Solutions: What ideas do you have to fund, incentivize or otherwise address housing in Canmore, aside from a vacancy tax?
- Governance: How will you bring more accountability and effective governance to the Council and Administration?
- Resort Municipality Status: Do you support Canmore pursuing Resort Municipality Status as a means of raising funds for the operation of the Town? Why or why not?
- Provincial Support: Do you believe the province is supportive of the vacancy tax initiative?
- Consultant Spending: Why do you think the town spends so much money on external consultants, including lawyers? Is that a worthwhile spend?
Our goal is simple: to provide voters with clear, unaltered responses from candidates so that each resident can make their own informed decision about who best represents their values and vision for Canmore.
We asked all candidates to respond by Thursday, October 2 at 4:00 PM, and have posted those answers below. To ensure fairness to those who submitted independently and on time, we WILL NOT post responses received after the deadline.

Remember to vote strategically: you don't have to fill every space.
In this election, you’ll vote for 1 mayor and up to 6 councillors—but you don’t need to vote for 6. Vote only for candidates you genuinely support and leave the rest blank. When you vote for someone you don’t have confidence in just to fill a space, you’re helping that person win a seat that could go to a candidate you actually believe in. Your vote is powerful—use it wisely by supporting only those who share your values.
